The Owl and the Pussycat

Edward Lear wrote the nonsense poem "The Owl and the Pussycat" in 1870 for a friend's three year old daughter. It tells the story of the love between the title characters who sail off to marry on the island "where the bong-tree grows". I think crossing a sea is often used as a metaphor for the transition to new possibilities and change in life.
