This drawing is an invention which creates an ambiguous and imaginary space on the paper surface. There is a link to standing stones but also to a sense of looking into an overgrown garden. There are also the formal qualities, of mark making and placement on the paper surface, linking with the formal design considerations of gardens and the history of placing stones in the landscape. The garden for me has a special meaning: as a space set aside from everyday life. A space for rest and reflection.
